Malaysians can enter Sarawak without taking PCR test - Minister

13/06/2020 12:09 AM

KUCHING, June 9 -- All Malaysians are allowed to enter Sarawak without undergoing the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test three days before leaving for the state, said State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas today.

He said that samples would be taken at random among arrivals at the state’s main air, sea and land entry poins and advised visitors to download the Sarawak COVIDTrace and Qmunity apps for digital contact tracing.

“All Sarawakians returning from overseas will be quarantined for 14 days at hotels and will undergo COVID-19 screening on the 10th day.

“Malaysians entering Sarawak and have a history of travelling abroad within the past month are also required to be quarantined for 14 days and to undergo COVID-19 screening on day 10,” he said at the daily COVID-19 press conference here.

Uggah, who is also Deputy Chief Minister I, said foreigners entering Sarawak with valid work permits and visas, including MM2H participants (My Malaysia Second Home Programme) were also required to undergo 14-day quarantine, with the cost to be borne by them.

He said Malaysians were also required to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), including downloading the MySejahtera app and filling up the E-Health Declaration form at http://sdmc.sarawak.gov.my.

Meanwhile, Uggah said that in line with the Ministry of Transport’s announcement, social distancing on the flight was fully exempt for all scheduled and non-scheduled flights including general flights, private jets and helicopters.

The JPBN meeting also ruled that public gatherings with a maximum attendance of 100 people were allowed depending on the size of the venue and required to comply with the SOP, he said.
