QR code in MySejahtera app to facilitate self-registration

28/05/2020 10:01 PM

PUTRAJAYA, May 28 -- The Quick Response (QR) code will be included in the MySejahtera application beginning June 1 to facilitate self-registration by the public before entering business and food premises.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the upgrade was the result of the public’s concern on the use of pens that might be contaminated.

“For MySejahtera we will use the QR code beginning June 1, so, there is no need to use pen to write your name. We will upgrade the application from time to time.

“But more importantly, if we don’t have the QR code, we advise everyone to always bring your own pen, it’s better that way. When I go shopping, some shops have their own staff to write the names, so there is another way of doing it,” he said at the daily COVID-19 media conference, here, today.

On a related matter, Dr Noor Hisham said thus far, 752,711 individuals have downloaded the application.

He said the Ministry of Health (MOH) encouraged more Malaysians to download the application to get the latest information and updates regarding COVID-19.

In another development, Dr Noor Hisham said MOH and other ministries as well as non-governmental organisations should organise discussions to look for long-term solutions against the infectious disease.

He was commenting on the recommendation made by a local university academician for MOH to use the modules in dealing with HIV to reduce the COVID-19 infections among illegal immigrants.

“That is a good suggestion and we should sit down to discuss the issue regarding illegal immigrants and foreign workers, holistically.

“It is important to sit together and discuss. We should put our heads together to look for a solution...(especially regarding) the infections among illegal immigrants,” he said.
