KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 -- The following is an update from the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) Quick Response Team on countering fake news related to COVID-19 on social media.
1. The Health Ministry (KKM) denies claims that the Health Director-General (DG) has retracted permission to celebrate and practise the tradition of visiting close relatives on the first day of Aidilfitri because many have embarked on inter-state travel without authorisation to get back to their kampungs.
KKM stressed that no such statement came from the DG and advised the public to stop spreading news related to this to avoid confusion.
2. The management of Aman Central shopping mall in Alor Setar, Kedah denies rumours that a COVID-19 case was detected there, as was viralled on social media. They assured that Aman Central is safe to by patronised by the public.
