KUALA LUMPUR, May 16  -- The following is the morning update from the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) Quick Response Team on countering fake news related to COVID-19 on social media.

1. Kuala Lumpur police chief  Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim has dismissed claims that the Pudu area in the city has been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO). He explained that police and the Armed Forces cordoning off the area with barbed wire is to tighten control on movement of people there to facilitate COVID-19 screening,

2 Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) denies that mouldy chairs as viralled on social media are seats at cinemas owned by GSC and this happened due to their closure since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced.

The cinema chain said its management has ensured equipment in its cinemas are well maintained for the comfort of patrons when the MCO ends, including checking for mould/dampness at seats and the premises.
