KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 -- Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah has expressed sadness over the death of former Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) newsreader Farit Ismeth Emir today.
“It was sad to hear of the passing of legendary @RTM_Malaysia newscaster, 'golden voice' Farit Ismeth Emir or ‘Pak Ngah’ today.
“May Allah place him with the believers & give strength to his family. Al-Fatihah,” he said in a note posted on his Twitter and Facebook accounts.
The late Farit, affectionately known as ‘Pak Ngah’ by family and friends was a popular RTM news reader in the 1980s and 1990s.
He died at the Assunta Hospital in Petaling Jaya at 11 am today due to cancer, leaving behind seven children.
His remains were laid to rest at the Taman Medan Islamic Cemetery in PJS 4, Petaling Jaya, after Zohor.
