KUALA NERUS, April 7 -- Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) made history as the first public university to provide free public health advisory service for non-emergency cases.
The service can be accessed at www.tanyadoktor.com.
Its vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Hassan Basri Awang Mat Dahan said it was an online health consultation system that enables the people in Terengganu to get free health advice from 40 qualified and experienced medical specialists from UniSZA.
“This is part of UniSZA's contribution to the community and to ease the burden of health facilities’ staff so that they can focus on the needy patients.
“The system will indirectly help the Ministry of Health in providing the best healthcare services to the people, especially during the COVID-19 outbreak,” he told reporters here today.
The system which is officially launched today was developed by researchers from the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Informatics & Computing.
Hassan Basri said health specialists would communicate with patients through WhatsApp from 9 am to 4 pm adding that if necessary, patients could also send in images or videos for a more accurate health assessment.
For a start, the system is only available for the people around Kuala Nerus before expanding it to other areas in stages.
Patients will have to sign up on the website and wait for their turn through the e-ticket provided. They will also be given the recommended prescription for purchase at pharmacies.
“The system materialised following UniSZA's success in developing the COVID-19 Risk Assessment System for Higher Education Instituitions (CHASE) which can identify those at risk of COVID-19 infection.
“CHASE is an assessment system which uses the IR4.0 technology to detect and manage the risk of COVID-19 infection for more than 14,000 UniSZA students and staff. Once the campus is open after the Movement Contol Order ends, anyone with symptoms will not be allowed in UniSZA,” Hassan Basri said.
To date, several quarters have agreed to use CHASE including the Plantation Industries and and Commodity Ministry, Petronas, Bank Muamalat and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).
