No need to renew expired driving licence during MCO - Wee Ka Siong

24/03/2020 11:10 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Marc 24 -- Effective tomorrow, drivers whose licences have expired are allowed to drive during the remainder of the Movement Control Order (MCO) without renewing their driving licence.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, however, said they must renew the document within 30 days after the MCO is lifted.

“Previously, individual driving licence holders are told to renew the document online via mySikap JPJ portal and MyEG during the enforcement of the MCO, however, with the new directive they are no longer required to do so.

“However, drivers are advised to bring along insurance e-cover note when driving,” he said in a statement.

He said the decision was made after a discussion between the ministry and various stakeholders including the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM) and Takaful Malaysia.
