UMK provides free food to students during MCO period

KOTA BHARU, March 21  -- Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) is providing free food to all students who are still on the campus (residential colleges and rent houses) following the implementation of the two-week Movement Control Order (MCO).

UMK vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azizi Ismail said the university is providing free food to the students who did not return to their hometown twice a day during the MCO until March 31 to curb the spread of COVID-19 virus.

"A total of 1,000 students are still on the campus, 749 of them residing at the Kota UMK campus residential college while the rest are at Jeli campus residential college.

"The free food will be provided at 11 am and 6.30 pm, aiming to limit students’ movement and assisting them to continue to remain on the campus,” he said in a statement here today.

He said during the MCO period, the university has also activated the UMK Covid-19 Operations Room which will be operating for 24 hours as a reference centre for the students.

"We urge all students to adhere to the regulations and continue to remain on the campus during the enforcement of the MCO to curb the spread of the pandemic. Students can contact the officer on duty for any questions or assistance,” he added.
