25/02/2020 08:07 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 -- The media continues their focus on Istana Negara as MPs have been making a beeline to have an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in the wake of the current political developments.

Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah was spotted as the first to arrive at Istana Negara via Gate 2 at 10.47 am.

About 10 minutes later, Datuk Dr Shahruddin Md Salleh (Sri Gading) entered the palace through the same entrance, while Bersatu's Dr Maszlee Malik (Simpang Renggam) arrived an hour later.

At 2.40 pm, the first of three buses ferrying nearly 50 Barisan Nasional and PAS MPs arrived at the entrance of the palace.

About 20 PAS MPs including its secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan (Kota Bahru) and Nik Abduh Nik Aziz (Bachok) were spotted boarding the bus.

Two other buses and 10 vehicles with UMNO MPs onboard arrived at 3.25 pm.

Among those who came via bus were UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (Bagan Datok), UMNO secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa (Ketereh), former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (Pekan) and Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar (Rembau).

Earlier, the UMNO MPs held a special meeting at Menara Dato Onn, the Putra World Trade Centre here before boarding the bus to the palace.

Prior to the arrival of the two buses, at 3.10 pm, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein (Sembrong) was seen entering Istana Negara via Gate 2.

At 3.21 pm, three Sarawak MPs arrived, namely Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri (Batang Sadong), followed by Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (Petra Jaya) and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (Santubong).

More than 50 media personnel have been camping outside Gate 2 since two days ago to report any latest development over the current political turmoil after the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government and the resignation of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as Prime Minister.

In the afternoon, the Comptroller of the Royal Household for Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin in a press conference at the palace said that His Majesty had consented to conduct a one-to-one interview of all 222 MPs today and tomorrow.

He said Al-Sultan Abdullah will interview each MP for two to three minutes.

Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali will also be present at the interviews.

The interviews would begin at 2.30 pm today with the first batch of 90 MPs and the session would continue tomorrow with the rest of the lawmakers, Ahmad Fadil added.
