MELAKA, Feb 20 -- Delegates who attended the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Technical Seminar on Digitalization recently and visited the Social Security Organisation (Socso) Tun Abdul Razak Rehabilitation Centre today were impressed with how the facility is in line with Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0).
Seminar organising committee chairman, Dr Azlan Darus, said 45 delegates saw how digital technology is used for rehabbing injuries.
"At the seminar, we focused on how digitalisation can help in rehabilitation. There’s no better place to show this than at Malaysia's very own Socso Tun Abdul Razak Rehabilitation Centre where we use the latest rehabilitation technology.
"The seminar also discussed the changing future of social security, especially for employers in the digital age with the presence of more and more freelancers. We have to adapt to this change so we can help the people better," he said during a press conference following the visit.
The delegates spent over two hours touring the facility where physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, work hardening and industrial rehabilitation, as well as vocational and return to work training, are provided.
Socso Tun Abdul Razak Rehabilitation Centre executive director, Dr Hafez Hussain, was also present.
The delegates also took a look at the Neuro-Robotics Rehabilitation and Cybernics Centre which is equipped with the Cyberdyne Hybrid Assistive Limb, the world’s first wearable cyborg-type robot for the treatment of paralysis and weakening limbs.
Dr Azlan, who is Socso prevention, medical and rehabilitation division head, said the two-day seminar which ended yesterday was attended by 210 participants from 25 countries.
The rehabilitation centre on a 22.3ha site in Bandar Hijau was built at a cost of RM238 million.
It started operations in October 2014 and was officially launched in April 2017 by former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
