KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 -- Police have opened 26 investigation papers into the circulation of fake news on social media about COVID-19 infections.
This includes three new cases in Kuching and Miri in Sarawak, and Temerloh in Pahang.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (intelligence and operations) deputy director Datuk Mohd Roze Shaari told Bernama today three other cases among the 26, will be prosecuted in the courts in Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu and Sabah.
The spread of fake news was viewed seriously, he said and urged the public not to share any unverified information concerning the coronavirus.
