KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 -- The government has approved RM8 million to upgrade the Pahang Royal Weaving Skills Institute (IKTPD) in Pekan, Pahang.
Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said he was confident the allocation would help elevate Tenun Pahang craft to the international stage.
Mohamed Azmin announced the allocation in a posting on his official Facebook page today after an audience with Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah at Istana Negara yesterday.
Mohamed Azmin said he was amazed by Raja Permaisuri Agong's passion and determination to promote Pahang's traditional craft.
“I am captivated by the skills, finesse and beauty of the handicrafts displayed by IKTPD students," he said.
