No decision made to relaunch new search for MH370 - Transport Ministry

10/02/2020 08:12 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 10 -- Malaysia's Transport Ministry has not made any decision to relaunch a new search mission for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 as there has not been any new credible evidence to initiate such a process.

In addressing news report stating the relaunching of a new mission to search for the aircraft, the ministry said it, however, would review any new evidence that officially received.

“In addition, the ministry will also be required to consult both China and Australia should a decision be made with regard to relaunching a search,” it said in a statement today.

Flight MH370 vanished from the radar on March 8, 2014, while on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.

An online news report on the relaunch surfaced last Saturday (Feb 8), stating that a search for missing flight MH370 could be renewed in just a matter of months.

The report said families of victims and the Malaysian government were currently looking to send seabed searcher, Ocean Infinity, on a new quest to find the missing flight.
