KENINGAU, March 12 (Bernama) -- The time has come for the Sabah state government to stop depending on foreign countries to supply seedstock for dairy and beef cattle breeding.
Former Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Harris Salleh said the traditional practice of importing cattle into the state was not sufficient to meet domestic needs.
“We have all that here...we have Datuk Yap Yun Fook farm to supply the cattle.
“We cannot be depending on importing dairy cows from New Zealand when we have our own source,” he told Bernama after visiting the Yap Yun Fok Resources dairy farm here today.
Harris said the government should look at the proposal positively as an effort reduce the outflow of money abroad and to promote the local cattle breeding industry.
