KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Bernama) -- Several areas in the Klang Valley were hit by flash floods after it rained continuously since noon today.
Social media posts by users indicated that areas in Ampang and Sungai Besi in Kuala Lumpur were flooded, while in Selangor, Section 51, Jalan 223, areas in PJS 2, 4 and 6, Taman Medan, Sri Manja and Buana Perdana in Petaling Jaya were flooded.
Flash flooding was also reported in Section 7, Section 13 and the area behind Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Shah Alam district, along with Bukit Raja and around Kapar in Klang.
Several areas in Gombak and Batu Caves were also flooded, and there have been reports of fallen trees as well.
The Malaysian Meteorlogical Department issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds at 7.20 pm that is expected to last till 10 pm for Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah.
