IPOH, May 1 (Bernama) -- The Perak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) thwarted an attempt by a local citizen to buy diesel fuel filled into drums without proper authority during Ops Tiris 4.0 in Kuala Kangsar, this morning.

Perak KPDN director Datuk Kamaluddin Ismail said the 8 am operation was carried out as a result of a week-long intelligence investigation into the embezzlement of diesel at petrol stations around Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Siput.

“During the inspection, the team arrested an individual who was filling diesel fuel into drums on a four-wheel drive (4x4) vehicle at the petrol station.

“When arrested, there were four drums at the back of the vehicle. The inspection found that 200 litres of diesel oil were filled in two drums on the vehicle, while another two drums were still empty,” he said in a statement here today.

He said that a 46-year-old man who admitted to buying the diesel oil failed to produce any authorization letter, license or permit to store controlled goods from the Supply Controller.

In this regard, KPDN seized two drums containing 200 litres of diesel oil, related documents and a four-wheel drive (4x4) vehicle, with a total seizure value estimated at RM31,304.00.

The case will be investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
