SHAH ALAM, April 23 (Bernama) -- An elderly woman sustained first-degree burns after the kitchen in her house was 30 per cent damaged in a fire at Jalan Haji Hashim, Kampung Bukit Belimbing in Kuala Selangor this evening.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said a distress call on the incident was received at 6.30 pm before 10 officers and personnel from the Kuala Selangor Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by the Bestari Jaya Fire and Rescue Station, were deployed to the scene.
“The operations commander reported that the fire involved a Class A building lot house, with 30 per cent of the kitchen area destroyed.
“There was a local woman in her 60s who sustained first-degree burn injuries and she was taken to the hospital by family members,” he said in a statement, adding that the fire was brought under control at 6.48 pm, and the cause of the incident was still under investigation.
