PUTRAJAYA, April 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) Strategic Programme on Weight Management Awareness, Health and Metabolic Control (STRIKE-SPRM) could serve as a model for other enforcement agencies.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the programme has demonstrated that with a structured approach, professional support and strong self-discipline, effective and sustainable weight management and metabolic health can be achieved.
“MACC can serve as an example for other enforcement agencies and, eventually, this can become a healthy lifestyle culture across the public service.
“I am proud of the commitment shown by participants, especially those who not only lost weight but also improved their overall health, including managing conditions such as diabetes and hypertension,” he said in a statement today.
The statement was issued in conjunction with the closing ceremony of the STRIKE programme at the MACC headquarters here.
He said the success of the programme should not be short-lived, but must be sustained through continuous healthy lifestyle practices, discipline and a deeper understanding of how the body responds to changes in metabolism, diet and physical activity.
Meanwhile, STRIKE-SPRM project head and deputy dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Prof Dr Barakatun Nisak Mohd Yusof, said the main challenge for participants is not only to lose weight but to maintain consistency in following the programme modules.
The programme, which began on July 24, 2025, involved 180 MACC officers and staff, and was implemented through collaboration, advisory services and professional support from UPM and the Malaysian Obesity Society (MYOS).
Participation in the programme was voluntary, driven by personal awareness to maintain health, as well as a more professional image and appearance among MACC personnel.
