SARIKEI, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- A single mother was among three women detained on suspicion of drug abuse in Ops Tapis, conducted by the Meradong district police headquarters (IPD), at a village in Bintangor today.
Meradong district police chief DSP Tansli Mering said the 42-year-old woman was arrested alongside a 26-year-old housewife and a 37-year-old single woman, all of whom were taken to the Meradong IPD for further action.
He said all three suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
“Checks revealed that two of the suspects have a prior drug-related criminal record each, while the third has no prior criminal or drug offences,” he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Tansli added that police are now monitoring the village to curb drug abuse in the area.
