NCID Deals Major Blow To Drug Syndicates With Record RM3.19 Billion Haul

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) seized drugs and poisons worth a record RM3.19 billion last year, an almost eightfold increase from the RM388 million seized the previous year.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the figures prove the NCID's effectiveness in curbing drug supply and safeguarding both current and future generations.

“From January to December 2025, the NCID recorded various achievements, with significant increases in several major areas.

“Operations carried out last year successfully crippled 270 syndicates with the arrest of 737 members, compared with 236 syndicates and 714 arrests the previous year,” he said at the IGP’s monthly assembly in Bukit Aman today.

Mohd Khalid also revealed that authorities dismantled 21 drug laboratories in 2025, up from 12 in the previous year.

Furthermore, to cripple the financial power of syndicates, the NCID seized assets worth approximately RM144 million and secured the forfeiture of nearly RM31 million in property during the same period.

“These figures are a significant increase compared to 2024, which recorded seizures of approximately RM100 million and forfeitures of nearly RM14 million. It demonstrates the successful strategies to cripple the syndicates’ overall operations,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said arrests under the Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985 declined by 27 per cent, with 811 arrests compared to 1,111 previously.

He said the drop reflected the effectiveness of preventive approaches and the successful dismantling of major syndicates that had previously contributed significantly to arrest statistics.

Mohd Khalid also presented certificates of appreciation to 26 police officers and civil servants who demonstrated outstanding service.
