KOTA BHARU, July 15 (Bernama) -- Police arrested a man believed to be involved in a snatch theft at the parking area of Lotus’s Lembah Sireh here, less than 24 hours after the crime.
District police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud said the incident occurred at 7.28 pm on Sunday, when a woman had her handbag snatched by a man riding a red Yamaha Ego Gear motorcycle.
The victim suffered losses amounting to RM220, and the case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code.
“Acting on information, police arrested the suspect around 9 am yesterday and seized several items, including a motorcycle,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Rosdi said further investigations revealed that the suspect was also linked to five other snatch theft cases reported in the district.
A urine test conducted on the suspect returned negative for drugs, and he will be brought to the Kota Bharu Magistrate’s Court today for a remand application.
