PUTRAJAYA, May 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will record a statement from Datuk Jovian Mandagie, the former son-in-law of Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the Commission is expected to meet Jovian in Indonesia soon, as his statement is needed to verify certain assets declared by Ismail Sabri.
He added that MACC issued a directive for Ismail Sabri to declare his assets under Section 36(1) of the MACC Act 2009, which he subsequently did on Feb 10.
“The investigation is expected to be completed by the end of June, after which the findings will be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further action,” he said at a press conference today.
Azam said that, to date, statements have been recorded from 57 individuals to facilitate the corruption and money laundering investigation involving the country’s ninth prime minister.
On March 3, Azam said that Ismail Sabri is a suspect in an ongoing probe into corruption and money laundering, following the discovery of approximately RM170 million in cash at a safe house during an MACC raid.
The MACC has also reportedly seized 13 bank accounts with more than RM2 million in connection with the case.
In a separate development, Azam gave an assurance that the MACC will investigate allegations of corruption related to the pricing transparency of the MyKiosk project.
He said the MACC received a report on the matter from MCA yesterday, while the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) submitted several related documents earlier today.
“So far, the reports we’ve received are largely based on information circulating on social media. We must first verify the facts and not jump to conclusions,” he said.
KPKT Minister Nga Kor Ming previously stated the ministry is open to any investigation, including by the MACC, concerning the pricing transparency of MyKiosk.
In a separate case, Azam confirmed that a warrant of arrest was issued against Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh for failing to appear for questioning in an ongoing graft and money laundering probe.
“The warrant of arrest was solely for failing to comply with our order to present herself. Non-compliance itself is an offence,” he said, declining to divulge further details on the case.
He stressed that Ling, who was reported missing on April 9, was only summoned to assist in the investigation and was never detained as a suspect.
Ling was abducted by several individuals who intercepted her e-hailing ride while en route to the MACC headquarters.
