KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- Turkish defence electronics company Aselsan is targeting a 10 per cent revenue increase annually from 2024 to 2030.

Its president and chief executive officer, Ahmet Akyol, said the company has designed a seven-year roadmap to become one of the top one-third of global defence giants after 2030, up from its current rank of 47.

The company recorded a total revenue of US$2.5 billion in the financial year of 2023, which saw a 10 per cent uptick from the previous year. (US$1 = RM4.75)

“We aim to be in the top 30 in seven years. The number of employees and activities will increase as we aim to increase our revenue 10 per cent per year up to 2030,” he told Bernama on the sidelines of the Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security (NATSEC) Asia 2024 exhibition which began on May 6.

Akyol said Aselson is currently building four new facilities in Ankara, Turkey, with an infrastructure investment worth approximately US$400 million.

On top of that, after opening its office in Malaysia last year, he said the company plans to expand its presence to the Philippines and Indonesia by the end of this year.

“We would like to increase our international presence. As of today, we are operating in 18 different branches in 16 countries around the world,” he added.

Meanwhile, in a statement today, Aselsan said that its participation in DSA and NATSEC 2024 shows the company’s dedication to strengthening ties by providing cutting-edge solutions to meet the technological needs of not only Malaysia but also other regional countries.

It said the exhibition reflects the company’s commitment to share its paradigm-changing technologies in the global battlefield.

“We are proud to demonstrate our presence and capabilities in Malaysia, which we view as a springboard for our export-oriented growth strategy. In line with our growth strategy, we aim to enhance its market share and establish itself as a key player in Malaysia’s defence industry landscape,” it added.
