KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- Samaiden Group Bhd's shares on Bursa Malaysia went up in the early trade today following its signing of a 20-year power purchase agreement with Maxell Tohshin (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

At 10.27 am, the counter rose 1.0 sen to RM1.27 with 50,100 shares changing hands.

In a statement last Friday, Samaiden said that under the agreement, it would undertake the design and installation of an advanced solar photovoltaic system, boasting a capacity of 1,028.28 kilowatt peak (kWh) at Maxell Tohshin's premises.

“This initiative is expected to significantly curtail carbon emissions from manufacturing operations, projecting an estimated carbon dioxide avoidance of 974.66 tonnes per year, which aligns with both companies' visions for a greener industrial future,” it said.

Samaiden group managing director Chow Pui Hee said the agreement with Maxell Tohshin showed a unified front in the battle against climate change, emphasising both companies’ collective responsibility towards a more sustainable industrial landscape.
