MALAYSIA PASSES BATON TO AUSTRALIA TO HOST ROUTES ASIA 2025

LANGKAWI, Feb 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) and Tourism Malaysia have passed the baton of hosting Routes Asia event to their counterpart Perth Airport and Tourism Western Australia (Tourism WA).

Perth Airport and Tourism WA are set to co-host Routes Asia 2025 for the first time at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia, from March 25-27, 2025.

At the handover ceremony held here today, MAHB aviation marketing and development general manager Zainuddin Mohamed and Tourism Malaysia corporate communications director Tuan Razali Tuan Omar passed the baton to Perth Airport’s aviation business development senior vice-president Stephanie Juszkiewicz and Tourism WA’s senior aviation manager Jessica Woodfur.

Speaking to Bernama on the sidelines of the ceremony, Juszkiewicz said Perth is targeting about 800 delegates to join Routes Asia 2025.

"I thank Malaysia for hosting Routes Asia 2024 here in Langkawi. We hope to attract many airlines from Asia, including China Airlines, as well as airlines from India,” she said.

Routes Asia is an annual event that provides a platform for the region's airlines, airports, tourism authorities, and aviation stakeholders to meet, share best practices, and develop network strategies, as well as ensure future air service development across the Asia Pacific.

Originally known as New Route Asia, the event was the brainchild of MAHB. It was first held in 2003 in Kuala Lumpur for three consecutive years. 

A decade later, MAHB co-hosted Routes Asia 2014 in Kuching with the Sarawak Tourism Board.
