JAKARTA, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with the Indonesian Travel Agents Association (Astindo) to enhance collaboration in the business events (BE) sector.

MyCEB chief executive officer Azman Tambi Chik expressed confidence that the relationship would empower both parties to achieve objectives beneficial to Malaysia and Indonesia.

“The objectives include the restoration of both countries’ business events industry, facilitating knowledge exchange, and exploring opportunities for other business cooperation,” he said.

Azman said the MoC also outlined collaboration areas, including joint marketing efforts for the business events sector and the exchange of market intelligence on campaigns, initiatives, programs, and projects to co-develop leads.

“With MyCEB, we look forward to generating quality leads and aim to create a dynamic and resilient ecosystem that will drive the industry’s growth in both regions,” added Astindo’s president, Pauline Suharno.

MyCEB’s three-day visit to Jakarta includes the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and engaging in a constructive dialogue with Indonesia’s Deputy Minister for Tourism Products and Events, Vinsensius Jemadu.

It said there was also a meeting with the Indonesian Exhibition Companies Association (IECA) to lay the groundwork for future collaborative ventures in the international business events landscape.

MyCEB said the Indonesian ministry expressed strong support for collaborative efforts in building a robust Asean BE community between the two countries.

“The envisioned Asean BE community aims to strengthen regional ties, promote economic growth, and enhance the overall profile of the business events industry across Southeast Asia,” it added.
