NILAI, May 18 Mei (Bernama) -- Food product manufacturer, Mahsuri Food Sdn Bhd, is investing  RM250 million to open a new manufacturing plant in Bandar Enstek here and is scheduled to be fully operational in early 2025.

Non-executive director Datuk Mohd Roslan Mahayuddin said the 24,000 square metres factory would enable Mahsuri to increase its production capacity and provide high-quality halal products for the people.

He said that in line with the opening of the new factory, the company hoped its products could penetrate the global market such as the United States within five years, thus, putting the Malaysian-made products in the eyes of the world.

“This is our second factory after Shah Alam. It is a step forward for Mahsuri Food in invigorating the local and foreign markets, especially in the halal industry, while also opening up skilled job opportunities for local residents,” he told reporters after the plant’s groundbreaking ceremony, which was officiated by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun here today.

Also present was the state Investment, Industry, Entrepreneurship, Education and Human Capital Action Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mohamed Rafie Ab Malek, Invest Negeri Sembilan chief executive officer Datuk Najmuddin Sharif Sarimon and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) chief executive officer Datuk Arham Abdul Rahman.

Mohd Roslan said the new plant would be equipped with modern technology Rotary type Koji Making Machine which would make Mahsuri Food the first company to use the advanced technology in the ASEAN region.

He said the plant also has warehouses, quality assurance laboratories, research and development (R&D) centres, offices and social facilities and would be using renewable energy sources to minimise the use of conventional energy.

Therefore, he said Mahsuri Food intended to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification so that the plant could operate efficiently, save costs and be good for the environment.

He said since its establishment in the 1990s, Mahsuri Food has continued to strive to empower R&D in the field of food production until it succeeded in diversifying the existing products to be used as a basic ingredient in Malaysian cuisine.

Mohd Roslan said Mahsuri Food is now expanding its exposure and producing various varieties of halal products, thus, successfully penetrating the markets in Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, India and the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Aminuddin said the state government very much welcomed the new investment of the Mahsuri Food plant in Negeri Sembilan which is capable of stimulating the food-based industry not only in this state but throughout the country.

“The opening of this new factory will certainly contribute towards the development of halal product production infrastructure, domestic and foreign marketing networks as well as socio-economic development that will be centred in this state,” he said.

He added that Mahsuri Food should also pay immediate attention to halal certification for every R&D discovery as well as recipe changes and new flavours before being marketed because halal status gave an added value that allowed a product to compete in the global market.
