TAIWAN EXTERNAL TRADE COUNCIL CALLS FOR SUSTAINABLE PLASTIC PRODUCTION

29/09/2022 12:10 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is encouraging more sustainable production practices to help plastic manufacturers seize green business opportunities.

In a statement today, it said many countries have promised net zero emissions by mid-century. Therefore, improving efficiency and reducing pollution during plastic production are fundamental and urgent issues.

“It is a goal for Taiwan’s plastic industry to show its contribution in combating climate change,” it said, following a webinar “Exceed Excellence with Taiwan Plastic Machines” on Sept 28. The event was co-organised by the Bureau of Foreign Trade in Taiwan.

The webinar was in conjunction with TaipeiPLAS 2022, the largest plastics exhibition in Taiwan with more than 300 participants in the five-day hybrid trade fair from Sept 27-Oct 1. The online exhibition is available until Oct 27.

TAITRA said during the webinar that four Taiwan Excellence award-winning companies were invited to give presentations on plastic processing solutions and their plans to reverse the negative impression connected to the industry.

The four companies were Chumpower Machinery Corp, Fu Chun Shin Machinery Manufacture Co Ltd (FCS), Polystar Machinery Co Ltd and Yoke Industrial Corp. All of them are leading brands of plastic machinery and parts in Taiwan. They have demonstrated their latest products and technologies and aim to make the plastic industry a greener, safer and better.

“Chumpower introduced its latest machines for bottle moulding with recycled polyethylene terephthalate to keep the structural strength of bottles and to reduce carbon dioxide emission.

“FCS recommended its injection machines which can reduce between 30 and 70 per cent energy consumption, and the new iMF4.0 smart management system to help makers improve production performance and flexibility,” the statement said.

It said Polystar presented a new machine with patented automatic pelletising system and smart control to ensure that recycled materials can be fully used on the production line, realising the circular economy where  recycling and reuse play a huge part.

Meanwhile, Yoke Industrial introduced its lifting products and Internet of Things (IoT) applications on heavy machines and moulds, with guidance from its self-developed RiConnectApp which gives users a safer lifting and moving process, it said.

In an opening remark, Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI) chairman Larry Wei said Taiwan is among the top six exporters of plastic machines, and is known for its high-quality products and after-sales services.

“Moreover, smart control solutions have been introduced in recent years to reduce waste in materials,  power and fluids. I am confident that Taiwan will become the finest partner for those who intend to create eco- friendly production lines,” he added.
