JAKARTA, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Chambers Jakarta (MCJ) is committed to being an effective platform for its members in business as well as social spheres in the post-COVID-19 era.

Its president, Raja Elona Safinaz Raja Safian, said MCJ will utilise the social media in disseminating information to attract the participation of more Malaysians throughout Indonesia.

"Currently, we aspire to revive MCJ to become a social club. We will bring families and members back together through events such as family day, dinner and cultural events," she said.

Raja Elona Safinaz was newly appointed as the president of MCJ for the 2022-2024 period to replace Alan Alaidin in the organisation’s annual general meeting (AGM) at the hall of the Malaysian Embassy in South Jakarta which was attended by about 90 businessmen.

Formerly known as Malaysia Club Jakarta, MCJ is a platform to connect Malaysians, create better business opportunities, foster relationships with local communities and collaborate with business organisations in Indonesia.

Mostly comprising members who have lived here for a long time and understand the local culture, MCJ is ready to help Malaysian businessmen who face challenges, including on matters related to visa and documentation.

Meanwhile, the embassy’s Chargé d'Affaires Adlan Mohd Shaffieq believes that MCJ will support activities involving Malaysians and will provide consultation, interaction and networking services.

"We want to hear views and advice not only on trade and investment but on other issues as well as strengthening the cooperation between the embassy and MCJ," he said.
