POS MALAYSIA APPOINTS MOHAMED SHARIL TO ITS BOARD
KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 -- Pos Malaysia Bhd has appointed Datuk Mohamed Sharil Mohamed Tarmizi as its independent non-executive director effective April 13, 2021.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Pos Malaysia said Mohamed Sharil’s extensive background and immense experience in the corporate and regulatory sectors as well as legal and finance would bring a diverse range of disciplines to the board.
Mohamad Sharil was previously the chairman and chief executive of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), an independent regulatory body set up by a Malaysian Act of Parliament to develop, oversee and regulate the communications and multimedia sector in Malaysia.
MCMC is also the regulator for the postal and courier industry pursuant to the Postal Services Act 2012, said the national courier company.
"His years with the regulator provided him with vast industry knowledge in the areas of broadband, Internet, e-commerce, cybersecurity, telecommunications, aviation, information and communications technology products and services as well as the postal and courier services or express delivery and digital signature services," it said.
