GUA MUSANG, July 26 (Bernama) -- Job applications from the Orang Asli community in Peninsular Malaysia have remained steady at 0.3 per cent from 2019 to 2023, Public Service Commission (SPA) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus said today.
He said public service appointments of Orang Asli candidates nearly doubled in 2023, rising to 94 from 45 in 2022.
“SPA continues to support and guide the Orang Asli in securing employment in both public and private sectors, working closely with the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO),” he said at the SPA MADANI Career Outreach Programme in Dewan Dato’ Ariffin Said here.
Ahmad Jailani said the programme aims to connect Orang Asli and rural communities with government agencies and strategic partners to deliver services, especially to those with limited physical access or internet connectivity.
The programme included SPA consultation services on public service recruitment, job suitability, application status checks and registration via the SPA Job Registration System.
Over 1,000 visitors attended, exceeding the target, with 20 agencies participating, including PERKESO, the Kelantan Public Service Commission, the Department of Orang Asli Development and the Fire and Rescue Department.
Ahmad Jailani said SPA remains committed to ensuring equal access to public sector career opportunities regardless of location or background.
