700 Students To Receive Free STPM Tamil Guidebook - Saraswathy

KLANG, July 10 (Bernama) -- A total of 700 students sitting for the Tamil subject in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination will receive a free special guidebook to assist them in their preparations.

Deputy National Unity Minister K. Saraswathy said the guidebook, which covers the syllabus for all three semesters, was developed by a group of intellectuals, including professors and Form Six teachers.

She added that the guidebook would be distributed free of charge every year to all students nationwide who intend to sit for the Tamil subject in STPM, especially those without access to a Tamil language teacher.

“Previously, the Ministry of Education (MOE) had published a similar guidebook in 2018 to assist students in need.

“The publication of this book is a continuation of the government’s efforts to increase reference materials for Tamil subject, thereby addressing the limited number of teachers for the subject,” she told reporters after launching the ‘Buku Panduan STPM Bahasa Tamil’ here today.

The book, which is not yet available on the market, was published through an initiative by the International Association for Tamil Research (IATR).

Saraswathy also encouraged schools to obtain the guidebook to assist students in preparing for the upcoming STPM examination.

“I believe this book will serve as an important reference for students and help address the relatively limited number of Tamil language teachers,” said Saraswathy, who also presented the book to 100 students at the event.
