RIYADH, April 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysian halal industry players have been urged to use Halal Development Corporation Bhd’s (HDC) recent collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and Saudi Arabia’s Halal Products Development Company (HPDC) as a stimulus to explore opportunities and expand their presence in the US$5 trillion (US$1=RM4.766) global halal market.

HDC chief executive officer Hairol Ariffein Sahari said the collaboration with IsDB and HPDC is aimed at helping Malaysian halal industry players gain insights and acquire knowledge about the halal industry and source or secure new strategic partnerships for businesses.

“HDC is proud to collaborate, support and facilitate in their endeavours. Our expertise and services include advisory and consulting, training, industry development, and halal event management.

“Therefore, I urge businesses to grasp this opportune moment to exchange ideas on how we can do more for our respective halal market spaces and capture a piece of the global halal economy,” he told Bernama during a business-to-business (B2B) networking session hosted by HPDC for Malaysian delegates, here today.

The B2B networking session is a side event of the Halal Economy Leadership Forum (HELF) 2024.

Among the countries that are interested in HDC’s expertise are Nigeria, Pakistan, Mauritius, Morocco, Rwanda, and South Africa.

“Today’s B2B networking session and the HELF 2024 bridge the gap between governments, economic and business communities in weaving the threads that will help pave the way to connect, nurture, and grow the global halal economy into living, thriving ecosystems for all.

“This B2B session is most timely. Progressive growth of the halal economy will see IsDB member states and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries break through barriers, achieve inclusivity and promote diversity globally,” Hairol said.

He also noted that the event opens doors for businesses to explore endless possibilities and connections available in the halal industry and local businesses are key contributors to progressing the halal ecosystem.
