KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- BMW Malaysia today unveiled the first all-electric sports activity vehicle (SAV) variant, BMW iX M60, for the Malaysian market, alongside two new M2 variants, BMW M2 and BMW M2 Pro.
In a statement, the German carmaker said BMW iX M60 features advanced technology and exceptional driving characteristics to deliver hallmark M performance.
"BMW iX M60 features an exceptional maximum output of 455 kilowatts (kW)/619 horsepower (hp) and an outstanding electric range of up to 561 kilometres, making it one of the fastest electric models in BMW's portfolio of premium performance vehicles.
"Accompanied by an emotive sound design from BMW M IconicSounds Electric designed by Hans Zimmer, the new launch control feature offers the vehicle a powerful start with up to 1,100 newton-metre (Nm) of torque, providing a slip-free sprint to 100 kilometres per hour (km/h) in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h," it said.
Meanwhile, the new BMW M2 will be powered by a three-litre M TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line engine, capable of delivering an astounding 460 hp (330 kW) and 550 Nm of torque.
"Mated to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, the engine is capable of propelling the new BMW M2 to 100 km/h from a complete standstill in just 4.1 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h.
"Additionally, owners can opt to add on the M Driver's Package, which increases the top speed of the vehicle to 285 km/h and can be retrofitted at any authorised BMW dealership nationwide," said the group.
BMW Group Malaysia head of corporate communications and sustainability Sashi Ambi said this year marks the group's 20th year of delivering sheer driving pleasure while retaining its position as the number one premium automaker in Malaysia for three consecutive years.
"2023 has also been exceptionally eventful for us across all our portfolios, having introduced several ground-breaking BMW i and BMW M performance models in the first six months, including the first-ever BMW i4 M50 and the first-ever BMW XM," he added.
