KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 (Bernama) -- The upcoming World Blocktech Forum (WBF) 2023 to be held in mid-August will discuss the latest technologies that are trending globally today.
Organising chairman and Crypto Valley Malaysia president Effendy Zulkifly said issues relating to artificial intelligence (AI) would also be discussed in this edition, following the virtual meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tesla chief executive officer Elon Musk.
"We are talking about the future of work and Industry 4.0 (IR4.0). It is predicted that in 2025, 22 per cent of the gross domestic product would come from Industry 4.0. That is the framework of how blockchain technology and IR4.0 would increase the country’s economy," he said during Bernama TV’s "Apa Khabar Malaysia" programme today.
Besides that, he said the forum would also talk about issues relating to digital finance including digital currencies such as crypto which often becomes an important issue in the country.
Effendy also hoped that the forum could introduce and subsequently promote Malaysia as a global hub for the blocktech industry in the future.
As Malaysia aims to become a global hub for blockchain and cryptography, this forum will play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s digital landscape.
Featuring workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, the forum will emphasise IR4.0 and cybersecurity integration into the blockchain and cryptographic space, WBF 2023 said in a statement.
"Attendees will explore emerging technologies such as AI, big data and the Internet of Things and discuss their roles in enhancing blockchain applications while addressing data protection, privacy and secure transactions," it said.
Taking place from Aug 15-17, 2023, this comprehensive event will showcase top blockchain entrepreneurs and cryptographic companies.
"Translating the potential of blockchain into tangible changes that drive social and economic progress on a global scale, WBF 2023 will be a platform for impactful action, shaping policy frameworks, regulations, and standards to facilitate the responsible and equitable adoption of blockchain technologies.
"In the spirit of the World Economic Forum, we aim to make the WBF 2023 the ‘Davos of the Blockchain World’, driving influential discourse, forging impactful alliances, and leading the charge into a future that fully harnesses the transformative potential of blockchain technologies," it said.
