Malaysia #QuranHour Programme focuses on surah Al-Sajdah

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- Surah Al-Sajdah was chosen for the Malaysian #QuranHour programme held to celebrate National Month 2022.

The programme was carried out simultaneously throughout the country today and also saw a total of 1,894 locations registered for the programme, in addition to one location abroad, namely Brunei.

In PUTRAJAYA, about 3,000 congregants attended the Malaysia #QuranHour programme at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque after two years of the programme being held in moderation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) chief executive officer Marhaini Yusoff said the programme themed 'Malaysia Bersujud: Keluarga Malaysia - Teguh Bersama' attracted participants from all over the country to appreciate surah Al-Sajdah as a solution to overcome one’s arrogance.

The programme began at noon with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, Al-Baqarah verses 1 to 5, and followed by Surah Al-Sajdah, led by ‘qaris’ (reciters) Wan Fakhrul Razi Wan Mohamad, Aiman Ridhwan Mohamad Ramlan, Amirahman Abas, Abdul Khair Jalil, Ahmad Tirmizi Ali and Ahmad Tarmizi Abdul Rahman.

The programme also included a ‘tadabbur’ (pondering over the meaning of the Quran) session by WUIF chief research officer Fazrul Ismail, special officer to the JAKIM director-general, Mohamad Zarifi Mohamad Daud, and Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah’s Usuluddin Department lecturer Dr Syafiq Sahimi.

In MELAKA, over 500 participated in the programme held at the Al-Sultan Abdullah Mosque, Masjid Tanah with the recitation of Surah Al-Sajdah led by the Qari of the Dakwah Department of the Melaka Islamic Religious Department, Muhammad Khairi Maidin, and Dr Muhammad Arif Musa from the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

Earlier, the programme started with the recitation of Yassin, followed by an al-Quran motivational session entitled 'Apa Matlamat Hidup' (What is the purpose of life) presented by Mohd Hakim Mohd Nor, who is also the coordinator of the Akademi Jiwa Hamba.

In KEDAH, the programme took place from noon to 12.45 pm at SK Khir Johari, Sungai Petani, and was attended by over 300 students from Year 1 to 6, and nearly 40 teachers and school management staff .

The head of the Islamic Education Committee, Muhammad Zahir Ghazali, said that through the programme, the students were expected to instil the spirit of reading the Qur'an, in addition to forming better morals.

In PERAK, Rumah Ngaji @ Mawaddah Meru Ipoh secretary Jamnah Saud said a total of 60 participants around Meru, Ipoh, took part in the programme with various activities including food sales and spiritual sharing sessions held at the house.

"This programme, among other things, can strengthen the spiritual bond among us around the Meru area and can give people some time off their daily routine and spend an hour to read the Quran," she said.

In SELANGOR, Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) Reading Movement Division chief Mohamed Fadzli Mohd Fauzi said about 150 libraries across the state were holding Malaysia #QuranHour.

In PAHANG, the event held at the Pahang Maahad Tahfiz Mosque in Kuantan, was attended by about 700 participants with the ceremony officiated by the Pahang Islamic Religious Department (JAIP) director Datuk Dr Zulkifle Ali.

In addition to surah Al-Sajdah, prayer recitations in conjunction with the National Day celebration tomorrow were also performed before the programme ended with the congregational Zohor prayer.

In KELANTAN, a total of 10 Orang Asli of the Batek tribe from Kampung Aring 5 in Gua Musang travelled about 80 kilometres to attend the Malaysia #QuranHour programme held at the Tengku Razaleigh Mosque in Gua Musang.

Raina Anjang, 53, said that although she did not participate in the al-Quran recitation session which was attended by over 3,000 people, listening to the recitation of the al-Quran and seeing the atmosphere in the mosque was an unforgettable experience.

In JOHOR, about 600 participated in the state-level Malaysia#QuranHour programme held at the Taman Industri Sri Sulong Mosque in Batu Pahat.

Johor Rumah Ngaji Organisation chairman Mohd Yusof Jamar said the ceremony began with prayer recitation by the mosque’s imam, Ahmad Hashim Sabrin, followed by the recitation and tadabbur of Surah Al-Sajdah en masse, led by the state government’s ‘Ta’mir’ teacher, Mohd Khalid Sujud.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, almost 1,000 participated in the Malaysia #QuranHour held at the Qaryah Paroi Jaya Mosque in Seremban, and included government agency staff and tahfiz students from 45 schools around the district.
