Sri Pahang need to be more consistent, have better finishing - Coach

KUANTAN, April 10 (Bernama) -Sri Pahang FC coach Christophe Gamel admitted that his players performance was still inconsistent and had poor finishing ability after being tied 1-1 against PJ City FC in their Super League match at the Darul Makmur Stadium here, last night.

Gamel said their chances of of grabbing three full points were also negated after the referee overturned  and offside decision when PJ City equalised.

"The players put on a good performance but I see there is still room to improve some aspects like consistency and sharp finishing.

"We have time to recover and correct mistakes before meeting Melaka United next Saturday. Sri Pahang's level of play is now better and I am confident we will do better as the Super League progresses," he told the post-match press conference.

Sri Pahang's goal was scored by Emanuel Hidalgo in the 38th minute while PJ City's equaliser was netted by R. Barathkumar in the 85th minute.

Gamel also hailed the performance of two imported players, Manuel Hidalgo and Mamadou Samassa, saying they played an instrumental rile in the action against PJ City.

Meanwhile, PJ City Assistant Head Coach P. Somasundran said he had expected a tough fight against Sri Pahang.

“It is good we secured one point, in terms of the game it appeared we were not very organised and a bit slow to settle down in the first half.

"But in the second half we played more convincingly, were enthusiastic and disciplined," he said, adding that this came about following the team's change in strategy and tactics as well as substituting some players.
