KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 -- Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), an industry development agency under the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister’s Department, has appointed veteran oil and gas industry icon Datuk Ahmad Suhaili Idrus as chairman effective March 1.
President and chief executive Mohd Yazid Ja’afar said the appointment was part of MPRC’s ongoing strategic effort to provide additional leadership experience to support its aspiration for growth.
“Ahmad Suhaili is a highly respected industry veteran and his proven credentials will be a valuable addition to the board,” he said in a statement today.
MPRC said Ahmad Suhaili has spent nearly three decades in the downstream, and midstream oil and gas industry mainly with Shell.
He has also served in various senior leadership roles at Iskandar Regional Development Authority, Malaysia’s Performance Management And Delivery Unit (PEMANDU), AECOM Malaysia and the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA).
Ahmad Suhaili read mechanical engineering at the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology and obtained his Master in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Malaya and also holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Asia e University.
MPRC added that he is also a Fellow of Chartered Management Institute (UK), Fellow of Institution of Mechanical Engineering (UK) and a member of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia.
