KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 -- Following the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) which limits training in the alley, national tenpin bowling champion Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman has outlined her own training plan to ensure her performance remains at top form.
The 30-year-old athlete said, the experience of undergoing self-training for more than three months during the Movement Control Order (MCO) in March, had prepared her to undergo training in the same situation during the CMCO this time.
According to her, the challenge for bowlers who ‘leave’ training for a long time is usually they would experience pain in their fingers and wrists.
“My fingers would become stiff due to lack of training, and they can be easily injured and it will be difficult to give my best throw when I return to training. So, I have to increase my swinging practice at home so that I would still have the grip,” Siti Safiyah told Bernama when contacted, recently.
The tenpin bowling squad had previously undergone a 14-day quarantine starting Sept 27 following an increase in COVID-19 cases, including those detected at the national team’s training venue at Sunway Pyramid.
The team only managed to undergo training for one day on Oct 12 before the government announced the enforcement of the CMCO in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor from Oct 14 to 27.
