09/07/2025 04:22 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- Resorts World Genting (RWG) has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with Trip.com Group to strengthen strategic collaboration aimed at boosting Malaysia’s inbound tourism.

The agreements were signed with two of Trip.com Group’s core business pillars in Malaysia, leveraging the global travel service provider’s broad international reach.

The collaboration marks a key milestone in connectivity, marketing innovation, and targeted engagement, with a focus on delivering seamless and personalised travel experiences for international tourists.

RWG executive vice-president of sales, marketing, and public relations, Spencer Lee, said a key highlight of the partnership is the first-ever direct application programming interface (API) integration between RWG’s hotel and theme park booking systems and Trip.com Group.

“By doing this real-time API connectivity, all our international guests, the streets, beyond North Asia, are able to have a serial view of all our products based on real-time pricing and availability…this will improve the overall decision-making,” he said at a press conference after the signing ceremony at Wisma Genting here.

“This integration allows real-time inventory updates, instant confirmations, and rate parity across both platforms, enabling a hassle-free booking experience for users,” he said, adding that Trip.com Group customers will also enjoy exclusive offers and enhanced convenience when planning visits to RWG.

Lee said the partnership also supports the growing travel demand in the region, particularly in Malaysia, and aligns with the government’s efforts for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

The memoranda also pave the way for joint marketing campaigns, especially in the Asian market, including flash sales and member-exclusive deals powered by Trip.com Group’s data insights and marketing tools.

Meanwhile, Trip.com Group managing director and vice-president of international markets, Boon Sian Chai, said the collaboration enhances the company’s product offerings with one of Malaysia’s most recognised hospitality brands.

According to him, Malaysia is a key growth market for Trip.com, and this partnership reflects the commitment to supporting the country’s tourism industry.

“Trip.com Group is a pioneer in live streaming of travel products. You may not have seen this quite as prevalently in Malaysia, but in many regions, especially in Vietnam and China, live streaming is the way to go in terms of featuring travel products.

“Now we are able to stream live, (featuring) properties, resorts, theme parks, activities, and all the different offerings that RWG has to a live streaming audience,” Boon said, adding that they will also be working closely with Tourism Malaysia to bring global customers to Malaysia.
