Man’s Body Recovered From Tapah Ravine– Fire Dept

IPOH, July 12 (Bernama) -- A man was found dead in a ravine at Kampung Batu 23, Jalan Pahang near Tapah today.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said in a statement that the victim, believed to be in his 30s, was found lying motionless by a passerby.

An emergency call was received at 1.48 pm, prompting a team from the Tapah Fire and Rescue Station to deploy to the scene about 38 kilometres away, where they used specialised equipment to retrieve the body from the ravine.

The victim was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel and handed over to police for further action,” he said, adding that the operation ended at 4 pm.

Meanwhile, in Sepang, a BMW caught fire at Turn 4 of the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) around 12.30 pm, believed to have been caused by a fuel tank leak.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said 11 firefighters from the KLIA Fire and Rescue Station were deployed after receiving an emergency call at 12.38 pm.

“The car was destroyed, but the incident did not involve any injuries,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Tapah police chief Supt Johari Yahya said an examination of the body found in the ravine revealed no serious injuries or signs of assault.

"With assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department, the body was recovered from a 15-metre slope by eight personnel,” he said in a statement tonight.

He said the deceased had scratches on the left shoulder and thigh, likely caused by the fall down the ravine.

The body has been sent to the Forensic Unit of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh for a post-mortem scheduled at 9 am tomorrow.

"An update will be provided after the post-mortem is completed," he added.
