KUCHING, March 7 (Bernama) -- Education and healthcare issues were among the matters discussed at the Technical Committee Meeting under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) on March 2.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said several other matters were also agreed upon during the meeting but would first be presented and approved at a higher-level meeting that will be chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a later date.
“The meeting (MTPMA63) was only at the technical level and the agreed matters will be brought to the highest level for endorsement. Only then can I announce them.
“The meeting (with the Prime Minister) does not have a date yet, but we usually hold it twice a year. So hopefully we can hold it as soon as possible, around May or June,” he told reporters after attending a zakat contribution and food pack distribution ceremony here today.
The March 2 meeting chaired by Fadillah took place at the Parliament Building and was attended by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud along with several other federal ministers, Sarawak’s three deputy premiers - Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Hui Hian, and Sabah’s three Deputy Chief Ministers - Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, and Datuk Ewon Benedick.
The meeting was aimed at getting feedback from federal ministries and agencies, along with the Sabah and Sarawak state governments on all unresolved matters, including the direction that can be taken regarding issues that are brought up.
