MELAKA, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- Members of Kesatuan Air Melaka Bhd (SAMB) will receive various incentives and benefits worth RM2.1 million a year following the signing of the third collective agreement (CA) between the union and SAMB today.
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron, who is also SAMB Chairman, said the three-year CA, effective Jan 1, 2017, would enable 549 members of the union to enjoy better allowances, medical benefits, insurance, holidays and other benefits in their scheme of service.
"The benefits provided also cover dependents, spouse, children and parents of employees besides a pay scale revision for 118 employees who did get an annual salary increment before.
"Through the collective agreement, all members are entitled to a 1.25 per cent salary adjustment based on their annual salary increase," he told reporters after witnessing the signing of the CA here today.
SAMB Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Khalid Nasir and Chief Financial and Corporate Officer Abd Rashid Ab Rahman signed on behalf of the company, while the union was represented by its President, Baharudin Sidang Kanchil and Secretary Mohd Razali Idrus.
Idris said the CA stipulated the basis of the policy agreed upon by SAMB and the union as enshrined under the Industrial Relations Act 1967.
In another development, he said SAMB had approved RM1.8 million for SAMB FC's management and expenditure and hope the team could live up to expectations to bring the FAM League trophy home this season.
