U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers: Malaysia Lose 2-0 To Palestine

08/11/2026 11:43 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia got their 2027 Under-17 (U-17) Asian Cup qualifying campaign off to a disappointing start after going down 2-0 to Palestine in their opening Group E match tonight.

In the match at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras, Palestine opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Yazan Khalifah latched onto a teammate's free-kick inside the penalty box.

Muhammad Shukor Adan’s national Under-16 (U-16) charges mounted several attacks in an effort to level the score, but their attempts failed to find the target before half-time.

Palestine doubled their lead seven minutes into the second half when Yousef Bustami capitalised on a defensive lapse, putting Mohammad Yousef Mohammad Sharbaji’s side firmly in control.

Malaysia had a chance to reduce the deficit late in the match when they were awarded a penalty, but Ahmad Aidil Mukhridz Ahmad Ridzalman’s spot-kick was pushed away by the Palestinian goalkeeper.

Mohamad Fazryel Ashraf Zefri thought he had pulled one back after pouncing on the rebound, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The victory earns Palestine three points, putting them level with Singapore, who defeated Guam in the other Group E fixture.
