ALOR GAJAH, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) is stepping up efforts to win over young voters, particularly first-time voters, through more targeted campaigning, including the use of social media and face-to-face engagement, in the 16th Melaka state election.
Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said campaign strategies must adapt to changing communication trends, particularly when reaching out to young people who are more active on social media.
"While social media is an important campaign platform, traditional methods of engaging directly with voters must not be overlooked.
"We are dealing with people who need a personal touch. Every candidate must make every effort to meet voters in their respective constituencies," he told reporters at the PH operations centre for the Machap Jaya state constituency in Batu Lesung here today.
Muhammad Kamil said he had visited almost all the constituencies contested by PH in Melaka and would cover the remaining areas during the final five days of campaigning to garner voter support.
The political secretary to the Finance Minister said the party's election machinery was also expected to intensify efforts to reach out to voters in the second week of campaigning to secure greater support for PH and boost voter turnout.
"We hope to maintain the positive momentum until polling day and intensify our efforts in the remaining campaign period to convince more voters to support us," he said.
He said PH was focusing on 15 seats in its bid to secure enough seats to form the state government.
"God willing, our election machinery in all 15 constituencies will work hard to bring about change in Melaka," he said.
The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 10 for early voting and Nov 14 for polling.
