SHAH ALAM, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) has recommended that any social media posts related to Aliff Daniel Adli be removed immediately, following his sentencing and declaration of repentance over his syariah offence.
JAIS director Datuk Shahzihan Ahmad said the recommendation was intended to support the man and his family, who had repented and wished to practise Islam sincerely without a digital footprint that portrayed them, the religious authorities, Muslims and Islam negatively.
“Let us be charitable towards one another as Muslims, safeguard our fellow Muslims’ dignity, respect each other and work together to raise awareness in an environment that supports the well-being of Aliff Daniel, his family and the Muslim community as a whole,” he said in a statement today.
On Nov 5, Aliff Daniel, his mother Rohizayanti Ramli, 52, and younger sister Nur Ranea Ezreen, 19, publicly recited their repentance during a Repentance Declaration Ceremony (Istitabah) before three principal witnesses.
On Nov 4, Aliff Daniel, 21, was ordered by the Gombak Barat Syariah Lower Court to undergo three months of faith rehabilitation at the Baitul Iman Faith Rehabilitation Centre in Hulu Yam.
Syarie Judge Mohd Faizal Habib made the ruling after Aliff Daniel pleaded guilty to a charge of wrongful worship by participating in another religion’s ritual, including carrying a religious object, piercing his body and kneeling before an idol at a temple in Batu Caves on Jan 24, 2024.
Aliff Daniel was charged under Sections 4(1) and 54(1) of the Selangor Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1995.
Earlier, Aliff Daniel Adli, his mother Rohizayanti Ramli, 52, and younger sister Nur Ranea Ezreen, 19, had also publicly recited their repentance on Nov 5 during a Repentance Declaration Ceremony (Istitabah) before three principal witnesses.
The three individuals made their public declaration and pledge of repentance at 2.40 pm before Selangor Mufti Datuk Dr Anhar Opir, Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) secretary Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, and MAIS Faith Control Committee chairman Datin Paduka Dr Khadijah Khambali@Hambali.
