Selangor Sultan, Tengku Permaisuri Extend Deepavali Greetings

SHAH ALAM, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, have conveyed their Deepavali greetings to Hindus nationwide, particularly those in Selangor.

In a post on the Selangor Royal Office's Facebook page, Their Highnesses expressed hope that the celebration would continue to serve as a platform for strengthening unity and harmony among the country's diverse ethnic and religious communities.

“The spirit of mutual respect, visiting one another and sharing festive joy should continue to be nurtured to strengthen the bonds of kinship among the people,” the post said.

In the same post, Sultan Sharafuddin said the spirit of mutual understanding and tolerance displayed during the country’s various festive celebrations serves as a vital shield against external influences, particularly those on social media that seek to incite hatred, sow discord and undermine national harmony.

“May this Deepavali celebration bring happiness and well-being, while strengthening the resolve of all Malaysians to work together to preserve the nation's harmony,” the post added.
