GPS Ready For Sarawak Polls - Fadillah

KUCHING, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- All components of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) are fully prepared for the upcoming Sarawak state election, with preparations involving election machinery and logistics being put in place well in advance, said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Fadillah, who is Deputy Prime Minister and GPS parliamentary chief whip, said the early preparations would ensure that all components could work together to ensure smooth operations throughout the election period.

“Our election machinery is actually already prepared, with every branch of PBB ready.

“Our work is, in fact, ongoing all the time. We started working immediately after the previous election,” he told reporters after opening a futsal court at the Sarawak contingent police headquarters here today.

Fadillah said the election machinery of PBB and GPS, chaired by PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, would help the other component parties prepare for the state election, with PBB serving as the backbone of GPS.

The Election Commission has set polling day for the Sarawak election on Dec 12, nomination day on Nov 28, while early voting will be held on Dec 8.

Earlier, Fadillah said the RM800,000 futsal court not only provided a space for recreational activities but also served to promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen bonds and foster teamwork and discipline among police personnel and the community.

“In the midst of our busy daily responsibilities, we must also pay attention to our health while building closer relationships within the community,” he said.
