Melaka Polls : Anwar Seeks Melaka Mandate To Continue Development Efforts

05/11/2026 08:42 PM

MELAKA, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged Melaka voters to give Pakatan Harapan (PH) a mandate in the upcoming state election to continue efforts to improve living standards and address the people's needs.

He said continued support would allow ongoing initiatives to tackle poverty, raise incomes, and improve educational facilities to be implemented more effectively.

“What matters to me is that we have started these efforts, and I ask for the opportunity to continue them.

“I hope the people of Klebang and Melaka as a whole understand that we are seeking a mandate to get things done,” he said at the Melaka MADANI Aspirations Tour programme for the Klebang constituency at Taman Bukit Rambai here today.

Anwar stressed that close cooperation between the federal and state governments was essential to driving economic growth and addressing local issues.

“I did not come to Melaka to make empty promises. What I want to emphasise is that we need cooperation between the federal and state governments to drive economic growth,” he said.

The Prime Minister also said the public had every right to judge his administration based on its performance and delivery of commitments.

“I am speaking as the government now. If I fail to fulfil my responsibilities, you have every right to hold me accountable,” he said.

Anwar acknowledged that improving economic performance did not mean all problems had been resolved, noting that basic needs such as water and electricity supply, drainage and school facilities still required attention.

He said prudent management of government funds had enabled various forms of assistance to be channelled to Malaysians nationwide, including allocations for schools and computers to enhance teaching and learning.

“Managing public funds must go hand in hand with efforts to eliminate abuse of power to safeguard the country's future,” he said.
