TOKYO, Nov 5 (Bernama-Kyodo) -- NTT Docomo Inc. said Thursday it is experiencing service disruptions across Japan and investigating the cause of the problem, Kyodo News Agency reported.
The major telecommunication carrier said voice calls, mobile data and texting have been unstable since around 11:18 a.m.
The problems also affected services offered by other mobile providers using Docomo's network. The carrier was checking for any impact on emergency calls.
Earlier in the day, Docomo said it had suspended its online shop and My docomo customer portal services after concluding that an outside party had likely gained unauthorized access to its servers.
The suspension began around 1:05 a.m., leaving customers unable to use the services to sign up for mobile plans, check bills or make contract changes.
The company said it was unclear whether the suspected unauthorized access was linked to the mobile service disruptions.
